- Tutorial: Meta-Models, Meta-Classes and Meta-Objects by Prof. Stéphane Ducasse.
The aim of this lecture is to gain insight into meta-level architectures by building a simple yet powerful reflective object-oriented kernel. Doing that the attendees will better understand the concepts of method lookup, self/super, instance allocation, initialization, class creation. Moreover, this lecture will offer a deep insight on the essence of object-oriented programming: instantiation and inheritance. The reflective kernels under study are the ones of ObjVlisp, D-SOM (IBM) and Smalltalk-78.

Transformation for Refactoring
(Monday and Tuesday, April 5th-6th, 2004)
- The aim of this workshop is
to bring together a number of researchers interested in the
use of graph rewriting for refactoring. In this way we can get to know
each other's work,
and discuss differences and commonalities. More broadly we can consider
the advantages and
disadvantages of graph rewriting, as compared to other formalisms, for
aspects of refactoring. Also, and perhaps most most importantly, we
wish to identify possibilities
for cooperation, within SegraVis (EU) and the project "Formal
Foundation for Software Refactoring"
on "Tools for Software
Engineering" and "Telecom"

Antwerp invites a number of experts in the
field of Computer Science, to
give a presentation about their work, in
order to expose students to new
and emerging trends. For already the
fourth consecutive year now, we
organize some of these seminars in
conjunction with two associated
institutions, namely the "Hogeschool
Antwerpen" and the "Karel De Grote
Hogeschool". As such, we aim to foster
cross-fertilization between the closely related fields of ICT and

- This workshop aims at working out a concrete graph transformation
semantics for Java. The workshop will consist of a number of plenary sessions and smaller working group sessions, of 2-3 persons each. Working groups will concentrate on modelling the statics and dynamics of particular isolated language features; plenary sessions are organized to integrate the results into a single meta-model and set of rules.
